Dallas Goedert Could Reportedly Miss Extended Time After Suffering Forearm Fracture vs. Cowboys
The Eagles will head into their bye week with questions surrounding the health of tight end Dallas Goedert following his exit during Sunday’s narrow 28–23 home win over the Cowboys.
After leaving in the second half with a right forearm injury, Goedert, 28, was diagnosed with a fracture in the forearm that will require him to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday night.
With Philadelphia on a bye next week, the team will have extra time to make a decision on Goedert, but he’s expected to be sidelined for following the diagnosis. The MRI will give the team a clearer idea on a timeline, though it’s worth noting Schefter reported the veteran starter is already being considered an “injured reserve candidate.”
Goedert’s injury occurred with 2:54 to play in the third quarter, when Cowboys rookies Markquese Bell dragged him down by his arm as he tried to stiff arm the linebacker at the end of a 28-yard reception.
An initial questionable designation soon led to Goedert being ruled out, forcing him to watch Philadelphia eke out the tough win over a longtime rival after logging three catches for 50 yards before his injury.
As the Eagles and their fans await Monday’s update, a potential IR stint for Jalen Hurts’s safety valve would deal a devastating blow to Goedert and the NFC’s current No. 1 seed at 8–1. On the season, Goedert has logged 38 catches for 410 yards and two touchdowns.
