Roschon Johnson Stunned Bears Fans With Huge Block That Blew Up Two Vikings Defenders

In this story:
Roschon Johnson had a quiet night on the ground in the Bears’s 12-10 win over the Vikings on Monday Night Football. But the Chicago rookie made a very loud impact on one play when Minnesota decided to blitz two defenders through Chicago’s interior offensive line. Johnson, who was in pass protection on the play, threw a thunderous block that blew up both Minnesota defenders, one of them being Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith.

Uncommon pass pro for a rookie. #DaBears #Bears pic.twitter.com/nqDwzvqA6g
It’s one thing to pick up a defender in pass protection, but it’s entirely another thing to completely eliminate a team’s blitz package in one fell swoop. But that’s what Johnson did with a block that freed up Fields to look down the field on a night when downfield opportunities were few and far between. Bears fans were loving it.
Taking on both defenders made that pass possible! 🙌 #DaBears

And this is why Roschon will be our every down guy soon. Herbert 🧃 has been awesome too

Many Bears fans, like this one, are likely hoping the team makes Johnson the No. 1 back. His production on Monday night- 75 scrimmage yards on 15 touches- certainly warrants more opportunities. But it’s plays like this one that don’t show up on the stat sheet that will likely endear Johnson to the coaching staff even more.
