Mark Andrews Takes ‘Big Step’ Towards Potential Postseason Return at Perfect Moment for Ravens

Baltimore Ravens star Mark Andrews remains without a date for his return, but the  latest milestone in the injured tight end’s rehab suggests his progress is heading in the right direction.

Andrews, who returned to practice on Jan. 12, reportedly made a leaping grab during a limited session on Tuesday that led to an encouraging update from Ravens coach John Harbaugh. With Saturday’s playoff opener looming, Harbaugh remained mum on Andrews’s chances of playing but offered an eye-opening review of his effort as he works his way back from a cracked fibula.

“Today was his best showing so far,” Harbaugh said Tuesday, per ESPN. “He really took a big step. Just what you saw today, we saw as well, so that’s encouraging.”

While Harbaugh’s mention of Andrews’s “big step” sounds promising, the coach stopped short of addressing his status for the divisional round when asked if he could play, leaving the door open for all possibilities.

“We’ll just have to see how it goes,” he added.

Entering the postseason as the AFC’s No. 1 seed, Baltimore will likely wait until kickoff to make a final determination on Andrews, who underwent surgery on Nov. 21.

If he manages to return, Andrews would provide a huge boost for MVP candidate Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offense in a possible shootout with C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans. On the season, Andrews hauled in 45 receptions for 544 yards and six touchdowns prior to his Week 11 injury.
