Eagles' A.J. Brown Defends Changing Social Media Profile Picture to Tom Brady

Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown wasn't expecting to hear any backlash when he changed his profile picture on X, formerly Twitter, to a picture of Tom Brady.

After receiving plenty of, well, feedback from fans, Brown addressed his profile tweak with a post on Thursday.

"[Tom Brady] is my favorite player ever," Brown wrote. "... Did not think changing my [profile picture] to the greatest QB ever would cause controversy."

But Brown wasn't done there.

"I don't live by the world rules," he responded to a fan. "He’s retired and is the best person to touch a football. It’s not that serious."

Indeed, it is not that serious.

Brown, like most NFL players suiting up these days, grew up watching Brady win Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. Brown was four years old when Brady started his first career NFL game in 2001. When Brown made his NFL debut in 2019, Brady was 42 years old and in his final campaign with the Patriots.

Brown shared the field with Brady once before the quarterback officially retired, a playoff game between the Tennessee Titans and New England on Jan. 4, 2020. That happened to be Brady's final game wearing a Patriots jersey before he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the following season.

If the Eagles' star receiver didn't get a chance for a jersey swap with Brady after that matchup, perhaps there's a profile picture swap in the near future.
