Michael Jordan Was So Fired Up Over Tyler Reddick's Hectic Win at Talladega
A chaotic finish at the Geico 500 at Talladega saw Michael McDowell crash out of first place, while 23XI Racing's Tyler Reddick pulled ahead for a stunning victory.
No one was more fired up over the win than Michael Jordan himself, owner of NASCAR's 23XI Racing team, who made a late appearance in the pit box with the crew toward the end of the race. After Reddick managed to sneak into the top spot, Jordan could be seen excitedly celebrating with the team, overjoyed about the result of the suspenseful end to the race.
While celebrating in Victory Lane, Jordan said it was the first time the team had won while he was in attendance, and he likened the energy of the win to that of an NBA playoff game.
"This, to me, is like an NBA playoff game," said Jordan of the victory, via Fox Sports. "I am so ecstatic... For us to win a big race like this, it means so much to me, for the effort that the team has done. Look, I'm all in. I'm all in. I love it. It replaces a lot of the competitiveness that I had in basketball... I'm very happy for 23XI."
On the final stretch of the race, McDowell, who was leading at the time, attempted to keep the pack behind him by swerving across the lane, causing him to lose control and spin out. Amid the havoc of McDowell's accident, Reddick was able to sneak up into the front of the pack and steal a victory, prompting an overjoyed response from Jordan.
