Finally some juicy social media beef to distract us from actual football.

Deebo Samuel and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson don't seem to like each other. The beef originated after the NFC Championship when Deebo Samuel said on the record that the only reason the 49ers lost to the Eagles is because the 49ers were playing with 10 players (Brock Purdy got injured on the first drive).

Remember, Gardner-Johnson was on that Eagles team. Now he's on the Lions. And last week, he apparently was watching the 49ers on television and saw Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams start a small skirmish with Browns players before the game.

"Trent can't save you when u see me … ON AND OFF THE FIELD !" Gardner-Johnson tweeted." Kind of a strange thing to say. Where would they meet off the field? At the ESPYs?

Gardner-Johnson wasn't done. He recently went on Instagram Live and addressed Samuel directly: "Don't be friendly when you see me. Because I can guard you. You can't run routes, you're a running back."

What an incredibly petty, unprovoked, accurate thing to say. Samuel really can't run routes well. He actually is more of a running back than a wide receiver.

That being said, Samuel is still an excellent player, while Gardner-Johnson is on his third team. The smart move for Samuel would be to say nothing.

Instead, he went live with Kay Adams and said, "He just sounds like he's mad I got a little bag and a lot of money and no one knows who he is."

Mistake.

I have to give this round to Gardner-Johnson. Samuel didn't have to step in the ring with him -- Samuel could have ignored him. But he responded, and the response was weak. Samuel could have said something funny or self-deprecating to show Gardner-Johnson is beneath him. Or Samuel could have taken a real shot back and said something unflattering about Gardner-Johnson's game. Fair is fair.

But no. Samuel merely stated the obvious -- he's rich and famous. Frankly, no one cares. That doesn't refute Gardner-Johnson's point.

Something tells me this beef is just getting started. Hopefully for Samuel, he wins the next round.
