49ers Free Agency Frenzy

There are impact players the 49ers can sign this offseason that can put them over the top. But will they?

Free agency is most football fans' Christmas, and the draft is most football fans' New Year.

Well, with Football Christmas coming up, I would like the 49ers to put some of these gifts under the tree: Marcus Davenport would be the real deal defensive end to put next to Nick Bosa. Davenport probably is one of the fastest defensive ends in the NFL. You pair him with one of the most dominant defensive ends, and it could be a match made in heaven.

We all probably would have rather kept Deforest Buckner instead of Arik Armstead. Even though Armstead is a dominant run defender, he's not the pass rushing talent that the Buckner is. We thought that we were getting a replacement in Javon Kinlaw, and that experiment blew up in our faces, so the only way I see us rectifying the situation is by signing someone such as Daron Payne -- 11.5 sacks from his position says it all. And unlike the Eagles' pass rush, this would be a legit dominant sack team with the combination of players I've suggested. Bosa, Armstead, Payne, and Davenport could be all-time great.

Okay, so far I've taken care of the defensive end next to Bosa. I've also taken care of the defensive tackle next to Armstead. Now I need to find a corner such as Jamel Dean from Tampa Bay, but he might be out of our price range. Depending on how Emmanuel Mosley returns from his injury and if he re-signs, I would say we're pretty set at cornerback, but I would still take a look at another guy depending on what happens with Jalen Ramsey in LA. I would at least kick the tires because pairing him with Charvarius Ward would give the Niners the strongest secondary in team history.

Lastly, I know we are satisfied with our backfield, but just like our quarterback room I really feel that we need insurance there, so I would get someone like Kareem Hunt to round out our running back options. Adding him to Elijah Mitchell and Christian McCaffrey and you have a nice stable of backs. On the O-line, Tom Compton has expressed interest in coming back, so I would see if that's a possibility. Or see if we could pillage Orlando Brown from Kansas City. But drafting will be the best option in my opinion. Just don't pass on a Creed Humphrey when he is available for you. Depending what goes on with Jimmie Ward, I would seriously take a look at Jordan Poyer or Chauncey Gardner-Johnson.

No need to thank me, but you're welcome.
