Why Kyle Shanahan Views Having Three Quarterbacks as a "Cool Situation"

In this story:
Finding one stable starting quarterback has been impossible for the San Francisco 49ers.
It's constantly been a rotating door due to the quarterbacks' inability to remain healthy. There's also the inability on the 49ers' part to commit to one guy, which is short sighted. Instead, they would rather keep their options and roll with it.
Like the old saying goes, "If you have multiple starting quarterbacks, you have none." Just don't tell Kyle Shanahan that. He recently was interviewed by NFL Network's Steve Wyche where he delved into the quarterback situation of the 49ers.
"We've got three guys who can play, and there's only one spot, and we have a good team," said Shanahan. "So I see it as a cool situation. And last year, we had some unknown. We believed in Trey, but he hadn't gone out and done it yet, but we believed in him. We got to see him for a year and a half, and what he could do, and he lost that opportunity, which happens in football."
"And we had another guy come in, very similar to Trey, but less reps and stuff. And Brock got that opportunity. So now we're in this situation, and it's just—I get how everyone wants something set in stone, but it's not set in stone. But I love the options, and I love the experience that Brock got. I love that Trey has gotten some, too. And I love the ability that we have in the room. And besides those three, I love our team around them, so let's let it play out. All I got to do is survive the press conferences."
The reason why Shanahan views having three quarterbacks as a "cool situation" is because the 49ers season won't be completely derailed if one of them gets injured and out for the season. If one of them gets hurt, then in comes another who can sufficiently steady the offense. All Shanahan cares about is having a decent quarterback who is capable. The quarterback doesn't need to be elite or anything close, which is exactly what the three quarterbacks he has are.
All of them can be played without the 49ers' season being a total disaster. The concern of having a lame duck backup like a Josh Johnson is over because all three quarterbacks can sufficiently start in the offense. And now teams can suit up more than two quarterbacks, which only cements Shanahan's line of thinking with it. Every year under Shanahan, the 49ers have dealt with a quarterback sustaining an injury that forced them to miss time. 2019 was the only season it wasn't an issue with Jimmy Garoppolo. Outside of that year, it has been quarterback debate and controversy constantly.
This is why Shanahan thinks it is cool, and likely all he cares about. He just wants depth as he has been scarred from so many seasons being ruined due to a starting caliber quarterback being done for the year due to injury. At this point, figuring out if any of them are a franchise quarterback would be a bonus and not critical. He just better hope that this unorthodox way of handling the quarterback position for a playoff contending team pans out.
