49ers Division Rival Rams are Cutting Ties With Bobby Wagner

The Rams have gotten weaker after they released their star linebacker, which only bodes well for the 49ers.

Some NFC West news that is relevant to the San Francisco 49ers.

All Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner and the Los Angeles Rams have reportedly mutually parted ways, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. The release of Wagner is a means for the Rams to relieve salary cap space for themselves given how sunk it is for them right now. Unfortunately, it is coming at the cost of a great linebacker in Wagner.

I would venture to guess that the Rams approached Wagner regarding a pay cut. All Pro players just don't get cut for nothing, so they had to have least asked to see if he was willing. Rightfully so, Wagner must've declined if that is the case. There is no point for him to take a cut on a team that is questionable to make the playoffs next year.

Perhaps now Wagner will finally leave the NFC West, which would only aid the 49ers. Not only is he leaving and weakening the Rams, he will surely leave the division to find greener pastures. There is no way he is going back to Seattle, and the Cardinals are in shambles. It is basically a guarantee Wagner is leaving the division. Who knows? Maybe even the 49ers tap him on the shoulder to gauge his interest.

I sincerely doubt anything would come from it should the 49ers actually target Wagner. They would surely just end up lowballing him, and it's not like they need a linebacker anyways. That position is more than solidified for the 49ers. Wagner has always been a thorn to the 49ers' side two times a year. Now, the most they will see him is once, if at all, once he finds his new team in March.
