After what has been nothing but negatives in regards of the San Francisco 49ers due to Monday night. There is finally some news to feel positive about leading up to this Saturday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Head coach Kyle Shanahan announced today that linebackers Kwon Alexander and Fred Warner will see their first on the field action this Saturday.

Bringing these two linebackers into the mix brings stability to this shaky defense. The front seven has been producing well, but a looming presence at linebacker will only help solidfy it. Alexander and Warner have been missing in action as a precaution due to injuries, so expect them to see at least the first quarter against the Chiefs. What better way to test their mettle than against an elite offense.

These reps against the Chiefs are going to be huge for not only these two players, but the entire defense. Week one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is not going to be easy. Their offense is loaded with talent and can create mismatches. Getting Alexander and Warner back into game ship is crucial. One of them, if not both, will likely be called upon to guard OJ Howard who is a force.

It just makes you wonder if these two will see a bit of action for the final preseason game. Regardless, it is great that the 49ers defense will have almost all of their starters playing on Saturday. The more they can play off of each other the better it will be for building a strong and cohesive unit.
