Another wasted third-round draft pick for the San Francisco 49ers.

Running back Tyrion Davis-Price is being signed off the practice squad by the Philadelphia Eagles to a future-reserve contract, per Adam Schefter. This isn't the first time that the Eagles are poaching a third-round running back from the 49ers. Last time it was Trey Sermon after the 49ers had cut him two years ago.

Clearly, the Eagles see something in these players that the 49ers don't. Either way, this yet another wasted draft pick in the third-round by the 49ers. Ever since Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch took over in 2017, the 49ers have struggled to consistently find a solid players in that round. Only Fred Warner is a player they can boast about.

Hopefully the 49ers finally learn that drafting running backs high is pointless for them. They have churned out so many lower end or undrafted players that they don't need to reach so high for one. The fact that it failed them in back-to-back years shows that. Evaluating these higher end guys just isn't their strong suit.

Davis-Price's 49ers career was over the moment Christian McCaffrey was acquired. Once McCaffrey got into the fold, there was no way that there was going to be any playing time for him. This season Davis-Price only got to play in one game in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys in a blowout. He registered six carries for 21 yards.

Since he was drafted, Davis-Price totaled seven games played for the 49ers with 40 carries for 120 yards and two targets. He didn't find the end zone nor did he register a catch once during his tenure. This upcoming draft, the 49ers must stay away from running backs in the first few rounds going forward.
