Fantasy football: Should George Kittle continue to be trusted as a starter?

It is always a tough situation when you draft a player in fantasy football because you know you can rely on them. George Kittle was thought to be one of those players, but his production has not reflected it.

It is without a doubt that George Kittle is the San Francisco 49ers best offensive weapon and among one of the best tight ends in the league. However, his elite talent has not been reflective in fantasy football. Kittle hasn’t had an explosive numbers game, which is all that matters when it comes to fantasy football.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who drafted him within their first few draft selections that are feeling some regret. It begs the question to ask, should George Kittle continue to be trusted as a starter?

Well if you did in fact draft Kittle with your first three to five draft choices, then you have no choice but to roll him out. The thing is with Kittle is that his usage and targets in a game will be sporadic because he’s so impactful as a blocker. Not to mention that defenses know he’s the 49ers most dangerous player.

It’s not like Dante Pettis or Deebo Samuel are players that a defense will spend time to scheme around. Kittle will continue to have low scoring outputs on fantasy, but it will pay off if you continue to start him. There is just no way he doesn’t have a handful of explosive games by the end of the season.

You’re better off leaving him as a starter as opposed to contemplating week after week about benching him because if that happens, you’ll regret it if he goes off. What is the biggest pain about contemplating benching or starting Kittle is that his production is sporadic. You just don’t know how the game is going to play out because Kyle Shanahan adapts throughout the game.

He could make Kittle the focal point of the game plan, but then go away from him when he see’s the defense rolling coverage towards him. Should you continue to trust George Kittle as your starter? Probably not, but you just never know when he’ll go off. It’s not like there are better tight ends available on the waiver wire. Leave Kittle as a starter and just trust that your decision will pay off, less you risk the feeling of regret by benching him.
