Justin Skule continues to quell any concerns about his inexperience

It never is an easy job to fill in for a Pro Bowl player in this league, especially as a rookie. In the case of Justin Skule, he had enormous shoes to fill once Joe Staley was ruled out for six to eight weeks with a broken fibula. The San Francisco 49ers were trusting a rookie drafted in the sixth round to protect the blindside of Jimmy Garoppolo.
It felt like the 49ers should have made a move for a more proven player rather than risking Garoppolo's health. However, Skule is proving to be a capable starter as he continues to quell any concerns about his inexperience. Skule is obviously on every defense's radar to take advantage of since he is a rookie. It's why I have advocated, especially leading up to week five, that the 49ers must not leave him on an island.
But the guy has proven through two games versus talented pass rushers that he can hold his own. The one sack that the 49ers offensive line did let up was on the right side. Mike McGlinchey was beaten by Myles Garrett, who has actually given up some questionable pressure as opposed to Skule. It really is mind boggling that the 49ers' offensive line hasn't skipped a beat since Staley went out with an injury.
Myles Garrett had one sack against Mike McGlinchey. Odell Beckham Jr. had two catches for 27 yards.

Looks like CB Emmanuel Moseley and LT Justin Skule weren't liabilities while replacing injured starters.
Every facet of the offense has remained the same. The run game is still effective as we just saw last night and Garoppolo hasn't faced much pressure from his left side. It's pretty clear that Kyle Shanahan has the utmost faith and trust in him. That's why on the very first play of the game last night he ran the ball on the left side of the offensive line.
When asked after the game about his thoughts on Skule's second start, Kyle Shanahan responsed "Felt good out there. I didn’t say his name very much, which is always a good sign for an O-Lineman. We’ll see tonight when we watch the tape and tomorrow, but definitely played good enough for us to win.”
If his solid play continues, then the 49ers just may have found a gem in the sixth round of last April's draft. The best part about Skule performing well is that the 49ers do not need to feel rushed to bring Joe Staley back before he is completely healthy. Had Skule just been absolute disaster, then it definitely changes things for the 49ers. Luckily for them, Skule is performing well and playing up to the high standards of the offensive line.
