NFL Power Rankings Week 10: 49ers Reach the Top at No. 1

The San Francisco 49ers returned to their No. 2 position in the NFL power rankings last week after their thrashing of the Panthers. They had been flip flopping a bit between No. 2 and No. 3 over the last few weeks since their win over Washington wasn't convincing. However, their latest win over the Cardinals last Thursday night showed how well they could respond in an uphill climb.

Winning a game on such a short week is not something to be taken for granted. That is why the 49ers have finally reached the top at No. 1 in the latest NFL power rankings. The win earned the 49ers some brownie points when deciding their rank as well as the Patriots' loss to the Ravens on Sunday night.

With the 49ers now as the last remaining undefeated team, it just goes to show how difficult it is to keep a flawless record. Even the Patriots couldn't manage to do it and they have been on a similar historic pace as the 49ers on the defensive side of the ball. Now that they are ranked as the best team in football, for now, the 49ers should start to being fully acknowledged as one of the best.

The NFL regular season has past it's midway point, yet their are still nonbelievers of the 49ers' legitimacy. This constant shifting of the goal posts is laughable. At this point, if there are still critics of this team, then they are just dead set on not acknowledging reality. The 49ers have been dominating teams without many of their key players, which is something critics completely neglect.

Luckily for the red and gold, their key players should be returning from injury this week and at a perfect time. The 49ers will host play host to division rival Seahawks on Monday night football. It is by far the most important game the 49ers will have played at Levi's Stadium. A win over the Seahawks will just be another proven point that this team is deserving of their top power ranking.
