A familiar face is at the 49ers' facility.
Cornerback Jason Verrett reportedly worked out for the 49ers on Thursday, per Field Yates of ESPN.
The 49ers worked out a familiar face in veteran CB Jason Verett, who was released from the Texans' practice squad on Wednesday.

Verrett was most recently with the Texans who ended up releasing him from the practice squad on Wednesday. Now, he might end up reunited with the 49ers about a year later when he tore his Achilles on the practice field. It feels like Verrett being signed will be official soon. The 49ers want more depth at cornerback, so it would be typical of them to go with the veteran who they are familiar with.
Verrett first signed with the 49ers back in 2019. His highlight season came in 2020 when health was no longer an issue for him. Because of that, Verrett was able to play at an incredibly high level. However, he has not come close to that form since. Injuries once again have piled up for him. Entering 2021, there was a lot of hype and hope with him as the lead cornerback for the 49ers defense. Unfortunately, his year would immediately be cut short in Week 1 when he would tear his ACL.
The ensuing year he would start to make his comeback with the 49ers. They were integrating him extremely slowly to ensure no setbacks would occur. His return was coming at a time where the 49ers needed cornerback help since Emmanuel Moseley had tore his ACL earlier in the season. Again, his season would end right when it was going to get started as he would tear his Achilles in practice on Nov. 10, 2022.
Verrett's career has been plagued by significant injury. I'm not holding my breath that if he does sign that he'll provide much of anything. We'll see how it plays out soon.
