The stage is set for Brock Purdy to go off when the 49ers go on the road to play the Cardinals. Here is why.

There have been plenty of games this season where Brock Purdy has had an impressive performance.

But against the Arizona Cardinals this week, he may just have the game of his season. The San Francisco 49ers are set to face the Cardinals on the road this week, which happens to be where Purdy grew up. This game is going to be his homecoming, which is giving Purdy some added excitement.

"I'm excited to sort of just have, I guess my family, my friends, just people in my life growing up to just be there. So, should be fun.” said Purdy. "I know that there's a lot of people that have bought tickets and they'll be there supporting, so very thankful for that.”

Purdy is poised to light it up against the Cardinals. The stage has been set for him perfectly to do so in front of family and friends in his home state. This is kind of like when Deebo Samuel was poised to light it up against the Philadelphia Eagles a few weeks ago. All of the trash talking and build up for that game was setup for him to use his actions to back up his words.

And while there isn't any talking going on for this game with Purdy, the emotions and desire to want to perform incredibly well has to be entrenched in him. Similar to what it was for Samuel against the Eagles. Purdy himself even admits that he would like to impress in his return to Arizona.

"Most definitely," said Purdy. "But I feel like it's sort of been like that already. Every game I feel like there's family and friends that either come to games or tuned in watching on TV and stuff. Nothing changes. Once we line up, it's 11-on-11 football and I’ve got to do my assignments and play quarterback and that's about it.”

As much as Purdy will want to impress and likely is excited about this game, he is not going to let that derail his mental state. He's not going to press or try too hard. Purdy has phenomenal mental fortitude. Whether it is when the pressure is on or when the excitement his high, he will handle that when the time is right to make sure he is even keeled. That is what gives him a killer instinct for much of the game.

And I think he'll try to use that as an advantage. Besides, the Cardinals aren't a great defense anyways, so even without the emotional edge of the homecoming, Purdy was probably going to have a strong performance anyway. The opportunity is right there for him and I have little doubt that he won't ball out in the state that he grew up in.
