Colts Could Take a Ride Up to Get Their QB

Jim Irsay's humor seems to indicate his team will be taking a ride up the draft to get a quarterback through the Chicago Bears.

One day after he had the NFL laughing about his revealing behavior at a press conference, Colts owner Jim Irsay was back trying to pander to the Bears again.

Or at least it seemed that way.

With the Colts looking for quarterback help and owning the fourth pick of the draft, they have been the center of speculation about a trade up to No. 1 with the Bears to draft Bryce Young. And Tuesday when he hired coach Shane Steichen, Irsay had said trading up was one of the things they can do to get their needed quarterback and added later, "Although the Alabama guy doesn't look bad, I'll tell yah."

Irsay all but said the Colts will be giving the Bears a good package of picks for the No. 1 pick in the draft.

On Wednesday his trolling got even more blatant as he tweeted out a picture of what looks like himself as a child riding a bear and it said Chicago's Lincoln Park Zoo.

"My relationship with the Chicago Bears goes back more than 60 years…," he said in the tweet.

What's next, video of himself talking to George McCaskey or of GM Chris Ballard when he was working in Chicago? He might run out of material soon because it's more than two months until the draft.

The settling of the veteran QB situation during free agency will go a long way toward deciding what the Bears can get in return for trading down with the Colts or anyone else.

Irsay's comments seem rather silly but it's a situation where the Bears can only benefit by waiting and watching in case another team can offer more.

The Panthers, Raiders, Falcons and a few others could all solve a lot of suspense if their owners were as forthcoming with their intent as Irsay.
