Poll: Justin Fields' Time in Chicago Should End

A report by Yahoo Sports asking seven unidentified GMs what the Bears should do with Justin Fields came up with the unanimous answer that he should be traded.

A poll of seven unnamed NFL general managers determined the Bears have one course of action to take when it comes to Justin Fields.

They think he should be traded.

A story by Yahoo Sports senior NFL reporter Charles Robinson says seven GMs were asked about Fields and their names were not given.

Robinson wrote Fields has obviously improved but says "at least seven NFL general managers aren't convinced," when it comes to Fields.

Some said he wasn't a good enough passer, others that GM Ryan Poles shouldn't miss an opportunity to draft Caleb Williams after he already missed a chance to draft C.J. Stroud.

One mentioned how Fields is not Poles' QB but was Ryan Pace's and no GM wants to get fired because of another GM's quarterback.

One "AFC general manager" is said the story to have said: "The fact that we're in Year 3 and (they) don't want to exercise the fifth-year option tells me what I need to know."

There has been no fifth-year option decision announced and it isn't due until May, so either this alleged GM knows something and revealed what the Bears think or he's generally uninformed or he's just popping off.

One of the most well-thought-out answers from among the seven said to be GMs is from "another AFC GM." This comment was that "When you pass on talented quarterbacks to lean into a guy's development, which the Bears did when they traded No. 1 last year, you have to be completely sure of that decision to do it a second time."

The says the GMs speculated on which teams could be interested in Fields and the Raiders, Saints, Buccaneers and Falcons were mentioned.

None of the seven said Fields would bring a first-round pick in return. The consensus was second or third round pick with probably another later pick as compensation.
