In this story:

The NFL schedule comes out on Thursday and two things had been known about the Bears for this year.

Well, make that one thing.

Their opponent for each game was and still is the verified part of the schedule. The other thing reported had been they would play one oppponent, the Kansas City Chiefs, in Germany. The latter was a report from German newspaper Bild and also Chicago ESPN radio's Dave Kaplan.

Apparently the news about the Chiefs game has been altered.

Peter King in his Football Morning in America column this week reports the Bears will not be playing the Chiefs in Germany. King reports the Chiefs requested the Bears game not be played in Germany so they can play it at Arrowhead Stadium.

Teams giving up home games to play overseas do have the option of requesting which home game not be moved, and that Bears-Chiefs game was a Chiefs home game. So, the report says they have executed this option with the Bears game.

Also, he reports a Chiefs-Carolina Panthers game that would be on the 2024 schedule is unlikely to be played in Germany because the Panthers would be able to protect a home game and wouldn't want to play Patrick Mahomes overseas.

If the Bears are not playing the Chiefs in Germany, they are not playing an international game this season.

Teams hosting international games have been released already by the league and none of the others besides Kansas City are on the Bears schedule this year. Buffalo, Tennessee, Jacksonville and New England are the other teams hosting international games.

Although the schedule will be released officially on NFL Network Thursday night, in the past numerous games have leaked out during the course of the day prior to the official release program.

The Bears play home and road games against divisional rivals Green Bay, Detroit and Minnesota. They play home games also against Atlanta, Carolina, Denver, Las Vegas and Arizona. They're also playing road games at Kansas City, the L.A. Chargers, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, Cleveland and Washington. Dates and times will be fixed in the schedule release.

The preseason schedule also will be released, although often the exact date and times for the preseason games can be set later in the offseason.
