Cornerback Kyler Gordon has been placed on injured reserve and it set in motion a few more moves from the practice squad as the Bears look to cover themselves in the secondary heading into the game Sunday with Tampa Bay.

Gordon suffered a right hand injury against the Packers and coach Matt Eberflus had balked at providing more information Wednesday, saying they needed to gather more of it.

The move Thursday means Josh Blackwell would move into the slot cornerback position. Blackwell also has an injury. He was on the injury report with a hamstring but went through a limited practice on Wednesday. If he can't play, the next move could be rookie Terell Smith playing the position.

Also on Thursday after the move with Gordon, the Bears signed cornerback Greg Stroman Jr. off the practice squad to the regular roster, while signing defensive back Macon Clark to the vacant practice squad spot.

Stroman was on the Bears in 2022 training camp, got waived, then returned at season's end after a series of injuries to defensive backs and finished the season by starting against Minnesota in the finale.

Stroman has slot cornerback experience from his rookie year with Washington in 2018. The 27-year-old, seventh-round draft pick by Washington had an interception in the game against Minnesota last year.

Clark was with the Bears as an undrafted free agent safety out of Tulane and was waived after training camp. He made nine interceptions in college and was tried both as a safety and cornerback with the Bears.
