The reciprocal move to adding players at rookie minicamp tryouts is someone else on the roster must go.

Usually it's undrafted free agents who had already signed.

To keep their roster at the 90-man offseason limit, the Bears needed to cut three players Monday after they had signed tryout players.

Cal-Davis offensive lineman Nick Amoah, Oklahoma defensive back Justin Broiles and Stony Brook tight end Damien Caffrey were the players the Bears waived.

The Bears had signed undrafted Houston defensive tackle D'Anthony Jones, Louisiana cornerback Bralen Trahan and Notre Dame tackle Josh Lugg after giving them tryouts at the weekend's rookie minicamp.

Broiles is a 5-foot-10, 192-pound safety who had three interceptions at Oklahoma.

Caffrey had been at Long Island and transfered to Stony Brook. He had 16 college receptions.

Amoah was All-Big Sky at Cal-Davis and started 29 games.

The players they had signed to replace them had been confirmed through various sources on Sunday. Trahan made 13 interceptions for Louisiana, including four last season. Lugg is a 6-7, 314-pounder who was ranked 22nd among undrafted free agent offensive linemen by NFL.com's Chad Reuter. Jones is a pass rusher who can line up at three technique or end.

The roster now stands at 90 after they had also signed former Browns tight end Stephen Carlson following a veteran tryout at the rookie minicamp.

Rookies have this week off from the offseason conditioning program and are scheduled to return to Halas Hall to practice with veterans at organized team activities.
