Bears Linked to 10.5-Sack Former All-Pro as Need Opposite Montez Sweat Remains

In this story:
One of the most disappointing things about the Chicago Bears' offseason has been the team's lack of an addition at EDGE.
Chicago posted just 35 sacks last season and doesn't have a sure thing opposite Montez Sweat because of the uncertainty surrounding Dayo Odeyingbo.
That's especially a problem in an NFC North division that has two talented passing attacks in Green Bay's and Detroit's, and another that in Minnesota's that should be improved with the addition of Kyler Murray.
Thankfully, there's still time for the Bears to make the addition they need, as the NFL Draft is rolling around later this month and more free agency action will occur after that.
Bears named landing spot for Cameron Jordan

Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport thinks the Bears could possibly address that need along the edge by signing New Orleans Saints edge rusher Cameron Jordan.
"There are a handful of teams who could really use an edge-rusher, including potential contenders like the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers. Jordan may not be the full-time, every-down force he once was, but he can still inject pop into a pass rush," he said.
Jordan has spent his entire 15-year career with the Saints, but a new destination for 2026 is possible after Jordan said as much recently.
"You gotta be able to take your emotions out of it. Of course, I'd love to be in New Orleans, but at the same time, if the cents doesn't make sense, then we have to find our own path," he explained.
"Just because I love the city and the organization doesn't mean the city and the organization has to love me back," he added. "The city definitely has and always will. I'm just saying, my love doesn't mean it's unrequited."
Cameron Jordan is a great fit for the Bears

Jordan looked to be on his way to retirement after 2023 and 2024, when he tallied just six sacks in that span.
But Jordan flipped the script in 2025 by posting 10.5 sacks, which was the most he had tallied sicne the 2021 campaign.
Along with his sack production from last season, Jordan would be a strong option because he won't get more than a one-year deal, so the Bears won't need to make a multi-year commitment and his presence won't preclude Chicago from drafting an edge rusher with any of their 2026 picks.
It's very possible Jordan is eyeing the Bears, as Chicago would give him a good chance to compete for a Super Bowl after the Bears notched a playoff victory last season.
The Bears' current cap space situation is very shaky, but general manager Ryan Poles should be able to find a way to make it work if the two sides want to work together in 2026.
