Some Starters Will Watch Against Colts

In this story:
In a surprise announcement, Bears coach Matt Eberflus said Justin Fields will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Fields will not be alone in missing the second preseason game. Some of the starters will also be held out of Saturday's game, Eberflus said following Thursday's second practice with the Colts in the Indianapolis area.
Eberflus said the practice time Fields had against the Colts was sufficient work for this week.
Usually the final preseason game is when starters get held out so it could be the Bears will not use Fields again in this preseason. However, with two weeks from the final preseason game to the regular season, it's also possible they would give starters a little time in the final preseason game Aug. 26 at Soldier Field against the Buffalo Bills.

Fields threw only three passes in the preseason opener, all the tosses going behind the line of scrimmage but two were turned into touchdowns by DJ Moore and Khalil Herbert.
P.J. Walker, Nathan Peterman and Tyson Bagent will be available to play this week at quarterback.
With the large number of injuries affecting the team, it can't be a bad time for players to be sitting.
Have tickets to the game in Indy. Disappointing… needs the reps.

Also out were Jaquan Brisker, Chase Claypool, Velus Jones Jr., Tyler Scott, Tremaine Edmunds, Trestan Ebner, Josh Blackwell and DeMarquis Gates.
Safety Eddie Jackson missed Thursday's practice after a Wednesday incident that caused him to leave practice early. Starting center Cody Whitehair left practice Thursday and the Bears finished with Doug Kramer playing center with the first team because Lucas Patrick remains sidelined.
Eberflus said Jackson's injury is not a serious one.
Just get rid of the preseason.
