Part Owner of Bears Dies at 93

In this story:
Andrew McKenna, the Chicago businessman who has served on the Bears board of directors and owns a part of the team, passed away at age 93.
McKenna bought in to the Bears in the 1980s and it had often been speculated the former chairman of McDonald's would eventually own a huge part of the team if the McCaskey family sold. McKenna served as chairman of McDonald's from 2004-16 and was chairman emeritus.
"This afternoon we lost a friend of more than 40 years to our family and the Bears," Bears chairman George H. McCaskey said in a statement. "Few people have had a larger impact on our great city. Andy spent his life dedicated to institutions across sports, media, museums, academia, health care and more sharing his insights and leadership. His guidance helped us make sound business decisions, most recently with our selection of Kevin Warren as our next President & CEO. We are grateful for his many contributions to the Bears and his wisdom will be missed. Our prayers are with his family."
McKenna was born in Chicago Sept. 17, 1929, had a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from Notre Dame and a Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law.
McKenna was greatly involved in philanthropic endeavors, serving as director of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, the Ireland Economic Advisory Board, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Big Shoulders Fund, the Museum of Science and Industry and the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago.
