Ben Roethlisberger Expected to Return to Steelers in 2021

The Steelers were eliminated by the Browns in the Wild Card round

CINCINNATI — Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected to return for the 2021 season according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

Pittsburgh lost to Cleveland in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, which led to speculation about his future in the league.

"Just talked to a lot of people on this one who say 'they'd be really surprised' if this is how he walks away," Garafolo said on Saturday. "He came so far back from that surgery on the elbow. He feels really good.

"I do know that there is optimism that we have not seen the last of Ben Roethlisberger period and in a Steelers uniform."

Roethlisberger's has one more year left on his contract. He's set to make $19 million, but his cap hit is a $41 million.

Look for the Steelers to extend and restructure his deal to alleviate that high cap number this offseason.

Roethlisberger missed the entire 2019 season with an elbow injury, but returned to the field this year and posted quality numbers. He completed 65.6% of his passes for 3,803 yards, 33 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 15 games this season.
