NFL Insider Peter Schrager Noticing DJ Turner II: 'Legit DROY Candidate if he Keeps This Up'

Turner has some long odds to win NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.

CINCINNATI — NFL Network insider and analyst Peter Schrager is noticing Bengals rookie cornerback DJ Turner II's impact as a starter during the team's four-game winning streak.

"DJ Turner's started the last 4 games at CB for the Bengals," Schrager tweeted. They've won all those games. DJ Turner is a legit DROY candidate if he keeps this up."

The rookie's done a decent job in relief of Chidobe Awuzie and has paired with Cam Taylor-Britt as one of the better young coverage duos in the NFL. He owns the 12th-best Pro Football Focus grade among NFL rookie cornerbacks (59.4)

Now, Turner likely has no chance of winning the Rookie of the Year award. He currently holds 100-1 odds to win on DraftKings Sportsbook. Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter (-200) is the clear top pick halfway through the season.
