Bills Coach Eric Washington Hired As Bears Defensive Coordinator

Eric Washington has been the Buffalo Bills defensive line coach since 2020 along with assistant head coach the last two seasons.

Changes are starting to unfold with the Buffalo Bills coaching staff.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reported that Bills assistant head coach and defensive line coach Eric Washington was hired as the Chicago Bears' defensive coordinator. Washington has been the defensive line coach since 2020 and became the assistant head coach in 2022.

Washington has previous experience as a defensive coordinator from his time with the Carolina Panthers. Whether he'll be the defensive playcaller remains to be seen, as Bears head coach Matt Eberflus had that responsibility for most of last season after previous defensive coordinator Alan WIlliams resigned.

Bills LB Coach Requested for Interview by NFC Team

Washington isn't the only Bills coach who has garnered defensive coordinator interest. Linebackers coach Bobby Babich has been requested to interview for the defensive coordinator vacancies with the New York Giants, Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins.
