Delivery Driver Pleads Guilty To Hit-And-Run During Bills Game

The driver faces up to seven years in prison for a fatal hit-and-run near the Buffalo Bills' Highmark Stadium in November.

A delivery driver pleaded guilty Wednesday to a fatal hit-and-run during a Buffalo Bills game at Highmark Stadium in November, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.

According to WIVB, 33-year-old Khairullah I. Hasein of Buffalo faces one count of leaving the scene of an incident without report resulting in death.

Officers responded to reports of an incident just outside Highmark Stadium around 8:19 p.m. ET on Nov. 13, just a few minutes after the Bills kicked off their Monday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos. The pedestrian who was struck, 65-year-old William J. Young of Rochester, later passed away due to his injuries at Erie County Medical Center.

Authorities say that Hasein, then working as a delivery driver, struck Young with his vehicle and fled the scene before officers arrived. His gray Toyota Camry was later found at Mills Street in Buffalo, just over 20 minutes away from the stadium, with front-end damage.

WIVB previously reported that Hasein was arraigned for the aforementioned charge the following morning. Erie County District Attorney John Flynn issued a statement on the incident in November.

“There’s no traffic violations at all that are attached to this charge,” Flynn said, per WIVB. “The actual crime is not striking the victim, the crime is leaving the scene.”

Hasein was previously released on bail set at $10,000. He is scheduled to return to court on Apr. 25 and he faces up to seven years in prison.
