NFL Draft: Bills OL Coach Attends North Carolina Pro Day

Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer stopped by North Carolina's pro day, where standout lineman Asim Richards had a strong showing.

The 2023 NFL Draft is roughly a month away - and the Buffalo Bills are hard at work trying to find the pieces to get over the hump in the postseason.

With all-star games and the NFL Combine already in the rearview mirror, pro days are the next big step for prospects across college football.

Entering this week, the first stop for many evaluators around the league was the University of North Carolina ... and the Bills were no different, sending a particular noteworthy presence to Chapel Hill.

According to Pro Football Network, the Bills were one of just two teams - the Baltimore Ravens being the other - to send their offensive line coach to the Tar Heels' pro day.

The focus for Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer? Asim Richards, a third-team All-ACC selection who's started 38 of the last 39 games and turned in a strong performance Monday.

"Senior Bowl participant Asim Richards timed between 5.12 to 5.18 seconds in the 40, then later ran an admirable 7.77-second three-cone and 4.81-second short shuttle at the end of the workout. Richards measured 6’4 1/2" at the Combine. Teams like his versatility to line up just about everywhere on the offensive line. Richards even did a little bit of snapping at center today." - PFN's Tony Pauline

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Richards allowed only three sacks while starting all 14 games at left tackle this past season.

Richards was the lone offensive lineman who worked out during the Tar Heels' pro day; the other participants were receivers Josh Downs and Antoine Green, defensive lineman Raymond Vohasek and linebacker Noah Taylor.

In addition to the Senior Bowl, Richards participated at the NFL Scouting Combine. He's currently projected as a Day 3 selection, per The Draft Network.

As the Bills progress throughout the offseason, adding players who can fill multiple spots only adds to the flexibility that coach Sean McDermott has with his active roster come Sundays, and Richards could prove to be a valuable selection in next April's draft.
