NFL Free Agency: Bills Sign Cowboys Pass Rusher?

Could the Buffalo Bills sign a player from the Dallas Cowboys to boost their pass rush?

With many needs on defense and not much cap space, the Buffalo Bills will have to be creative in how they improve that unit for next season.

If the Bills are going to add anyone through free agency, they'll likely have to go through the bargain-bin to find players in free agency. Sports Illustrated predicted one player each team could sign, and they had Buffalo signing Dallas Cowboys pass rusher Dorance Armstrong.

Dorance Armstrong

Dec 17, 2023; Orchard Park, New York, USA; Dallas Cowboys defensive end Dorance Armstrong (92) tackles Buffalo Bills running back James Cook (4) in the second half at Highmark Stadium.

"Armstrong made the most of his limited opportunities behind a stacked group of pass rushers in Dallas," Sports Illustrated writes. "Many teams might be willing to overlook his lack of starting experience and bet on his upside. But if that’s not the case, the Bills would be wise to swoop in and possibly land him on a bargain deal. Buffalo isn’t in a position to splurge on free agents because of its cap space issues. Armstrong, 26, generated 16 total sacks the past two seasons."

Armstrong has primarily been a pass rush specialist, but he's thrived in that position when he's on the field. He had 7.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and 12 quarterback hits, both of which were the second-highest totals of his career.

With Leonard Floyd and A.J. Epenesa, the team's top-two pass rushers are set to him free agency. The Bills need to add players who can get after the quarterback in free agency and through the draft. If Armstrong is there to be signed on a team-friendly contract, the Bills should bet on his upside with more playing time.
