Bills' Josh Allen Undecided on Joining Netflix's 'Quarterback'

Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen is mulling over a role on Netflix's hit show "Quarterback," noting how his interest wavers

The new Netflix show "Quarterback" has become a smash hit since its debut last month, yet it seems that no one wants to appear on it.

The show, produced by NFL Films and featuring Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning as an executive producer, documents the life of a select few signal-callers throughout an entire season. Season 1 followed Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs, Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings and Marcus Mariota of the Atlanta Falcons (at the time). Despite the show's acclaim, quarterbacks across the league have reportedly declined roles in an eventual Season 2.

Unlike most quarterbacks, Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen admitted he has some interest in appearing on the show. However, he also acknowledged the downsides that a role on the show could bring. At the end of the day, Allen is conflicted on a potential appearance.

“I talked to Pat (Mahomes) a little bit about it and I think it’s a really cool concept,” Allen told reporters Thursday. “I think that to have everything documented, especially as a quarterback, is very cool. But at the same time I don’t want any outside distractions. I don’t want any unnecessary distractions for myself or this team. I’m not saying that it would be. ...

"I’m a little undecided on whether I would want to do it or not. I go back and forth sometimes in my mind, but as of right now I’m just trying to be the best quarterback for this team.”

In terms of fit, Allen would certainly draw in viewers. He's near-universally seen as one of the game's best quarterbacks, and his appearance on the cover of "Madden NFL 24" proves he is open to extra exposure.

Appearing on "Quarterback" would surely be a special opportunity for Allen, but with so many factors at play, it's understandable why he'd have some doubts as well.
