Bills Select 'Breakout' LB Jeremiah Trotter in 2024 Mock Draft

The Buffalo Bills added to their defense in a recent way-too-early 2024 mock draft from ESPN.

Even though we are still months out from the start of the season, some analysts are already making way-too-early mock drafts for 2024.

And according to ESPN's latest "way-too-early" mock draft for 2024, one of the Buffalo Bills' needs is at linebacker. As a result, they draft Clemson's Jeremiah Trotter with the No. 28 overall pick.

"Trotter's instincts, speed and feel for attacking downhill were consistent on tape during his breakout sophomore year," ESPN writes. "At 6-foot, 230 pounds, he isn't a big presence in the middle, but his foresight and reaction skills help him anticipate offensive concepts."

There is a lot to like about Trotter as a defender, especially after his breakout year last season. Starting 14 games for Clemson, he recorded 89 tackles with 13.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. He also showed he can create turnovers, snagging a pair of interceptions and forcing a fumble.

Some questions might be raised regarding his size, but Trotter has shown he has what it takes to be an elite linebacker. Not only that, but the Bills have shown a willingness to draft potentially smaller defenders at the position in the past.

"The Bills found success in drafting an undersized but instinctive linebacker in Matt Milano in 2017," ESPN writes. "Pairing him alongside Trotter would provide the team with a really good duo in the middle of Sean McDermott's defense."

Between now and next April there, is a lot that can change, especially regarding the Bills' roster construction. If Trotter does end up being their pick, though, he could find a role in Buffalo's already elite defense.
