NFL Mock Draft: Bills Trade Out of 1st Round, Fill Multiple Needs

With the Buffalo Bills having the No. 27 overall pick, they could opt to wait even longer to make their selection in the NFL Draft by trading back.

Is there a possibility that the Buffalo Bills decide to trade out of the first round?

Considering their big needs heading into the 2023 NFL Draft of offensive tackle, inside linebacker, running back, and wide receiver, it's certainly a possibility. Depending on how the draft board shakes out, the Bills could get more value out of trading back and waiting a little longer to make a selection.

This possibility is one that a recent mock draft from Syracuse.com explored to see what Buffalo's draft class could look like if that is how it transpired.

With the mock having Kentucky quarterback Will Levis still on the board at Buffalo's No. 27 pick, Syracuse.com notes that there could be plenty of suitors who would try and trade to get him. But it was the Los Angeles Rams, who don't a Day 1 pick, that get into the first round.

The mock trade has the Rams sending their No. 36 and No. 69 overall picks to Buffalo in exchange for No. 27. This allows the Bills to have two extra picks on Day 2 and give them more time to regroup.

At No. 36, the Bills are projected to take Georgia tight end Darnell Washington.

"The Bills may look to grab one of the draft’s top linebackers at this spot, but the athletic profile and sheer size of Washington make him the pick," Matt Perrino wrote.

But the Bills wouldn't wait long to draft a potential replacement of Tremaine Edmunds, as Perrino has the Bills once again making a trade. In this trade, the Bills receive the Seattle Seahawks' No. 52 pick in exchange for Buffalo's No. 59 and No. 137 picks, which would help the Bills land Iowa's Jack Cambell.

So two picks in, and the Bills have filled a need at inside backer with Campbell while adding another weapon in Washington. What's next?

The Bills would draft two other needs with their next picks, selecting North Dakota State interior linemen Cody Mauch and Ole Miss receiver Jonathan Mingo, who Syracuse.com said would be a "steal" with the Bills' fourth-round pick.

To round out the seven-round mock draft, Perrino has the Bills addressing the interior of the defensive line with LSU's Jaquelin Roy before finishing the draft with an offensive lineman, Asim Richards.
