Bills Falling Behind New York Jets in Odell Beckham Jr. Sweepstakes?

The Buffalo Bills have significant competition in their bid to land star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency.

As the Buffalo Bills continue to seek additional offensive assistance for quarterback Josh Allen, one marquee name might be tumbling down their list of potential pass-catchers.

Per an ESPN report from Thursday morning, the Bills are no longer among the top suitors for free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr.

While rumors have connected the 30-year-old to Western New York, both the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens have seemingly eclipsed the Bills as Beckham’s potential destination for 2023, and potentially beyond.

Per ESPN’s Dan Graziano:

“Odell Beckham Jr. has offers on the table from multiple teams, and I am told the Jets are the most likely landing spot but that Beckham could be waiting to make sure the Aaron Rodgers deal gets completed before finalizing his own decision. Baltimore has made a push for Beckham as well.”

To his credit, when Beckham is dialed in, there are few talents in the league at his position that can match his athleticism and big-play ability. Throughout his nine-year NFL career, Beckham has compiled 7367 yards on 531 catches, 56 of which have gone for touchdowns.

Beckham’s late-season arrival with the Los Angeles Rams last season helped him regain his superstar-level form while on the big stage. In the NFC Championship, he caught nine passes for 113 yards in the Rams’ 20-17 comeback win over the San Francisco 49ers. And prior to sustaining his injury early in the first half, he had two receptions for 52 yards and one touchdown in L.A.’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI.

The potential of adding Beckham Jr. to a stable of pass-catchers which includes Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and Khalil Shakir has the chance to take the Bills offense to another level.

The only question remaining is whether the allure of joining the reigning AFC East champions is enough to fend off the new-look Jets as Beckham Jr.'s best bet for a championship run.
