Cowboys' Stephon Gilmore Ranks WRs: Bills' Stefon Diggs No. 1?

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Stephon Gilmore placed Buffalo Bills star receiver Stefon Diggs at the top of his current pass-catcher power rankings.

When it comes to reluctantly giving receivers their due, accomplished NFL cornerback Stephon Gilmore digs Stefon Diggs.

The newly-minted Dallas Cowboys defender recently took to Fox Sports' airwaves and was on the talk program "Speak" to discuss his personal top five receivers in the current NFL. Diggs, who's set to enter his fourth season with the Buffalo Bills, topped Gilmore's list ahead of guys like Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase and Tyreek Hill.

Diggs has been one of the primary reasons behind the Bills' new-decade resurgence, one that has helped create the second-longest active playoff streak in football. Through his first three seasons, Diggs has put up 4,189 yards and 29 scores. Gilmore has seen Diggs' partial offensive takeover from a first-hand perspective: while with the New England Patriots in 2020, an injured Gilmore could only watch as the Bills ended their long-standing hex against their divisional rivals, as Diggs earned 237 yards and three scores in a long-awaited sweep of the annual two-game set. In a more recent meeting in December 2021, Diggs beat Gilmore, then of the Carolina Panthers, for a touchdown in a 31-14 Buffalo victory

For the top honor on Gilmore's list, Diggs respectively beat out Davante Adams,  Jefferson, Chase, and Hill.

Gilmore, who began his NFL career with five seasons in Buffalo after he was the 10th overall pick in the 2012 draft, certainly knows what it's like to work with the Diggs family: the interview also gave him a chance to laud working with Stefon's brother, Trevon, in the Dallas secondary.

Stefon will get a chance to live up to his Gilmore-bestowed reputation during Week 15 action when the Cowboys and Bills do battle in Orchard Park. In the meantime, Buffalo opens its preseason slate on Saturday afternoon against the Indianapolis Colts (1 p.m. ET, WIVB) at Highmark Stadium.
