Saturday night's game between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium was always going to make NFL history, as it will be the league's first game to air exclusively on Peacock.

On Thursday, though, NBCUniversal, the company that runs Peacock, revealed that this game will make history in another way. The media giant announced that Saturday's game will feature no commercials in the fourth quarter, a first for the NFL.

“We are proud to work with our partners at the NFL to present this first-of-its kind experience,” NBC Sports president Rick Cordella said in a press release. “NBC Sports’ best-in-class NFL production, Peacock’s fan-friendly viewer experience, and this innovative advertising model will allow NFL fans an exciting new way to watch the game’s conclusion.”

According to the press release, this game will feature a 40 percent ad load reduction compared to a standard NFL game, resulting in 12 additional minutes of game-related content.

Instead of commercials, the fourth quarter will instead feature "special content takeovers and game features, seamlessly integrating relevant booth and studio updates and analysis."

While Saturday's game is a Peacock-exclusive for most of the country, those in local markets can watch it on standard TV. For Buffalo residents, the game will air on WGRZ, the local NBC affiliate.

Bills Not Overlooking Battered & Bruised Chargers

This matchup, which features the standard Sunday Night Football crew of Mike Tirico, Chris Collinsworth and Melissa Stark, is the second of two NFL games on Saturday, kicking off at 8 p.m. ET. Before that, the Cincinnati Bengals will visit the Cincinnati Bengals at 4:30 p.m. ET, featuring Noah Eagle, Todd Blackledge and Kathryn Tappen, who called NBC's Big Ten Saturday night games this season, on the call.

As of Thursday night, the Bills are 12.5-point road favorites as they look to win their third straight game and continue their playoff push.
