The New York Jets host the Buffalo Bills in the regular season opener for both teams on Monday Night Football. It's a game full of storylines with the debut of Aaron Rodgers for the Jets and the return of Damar Hamlin for the Bills.

“One thing has happened almost every single day and it just reminds me how I’m in the right place and where I’m supposed to be,” Rodgers said. “And I’m really just loving what this opportunity has given me.”

Hamlin is expected to return to the field for a regular-season game the first time since suffering a cardiac event in Cincinnati on Jan. 2.

“Just incredible, amazing,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said of Hamlin's return. “All the words, adjectives you’d use to describe something as unique as what he’s been through.”

Rodgers arrives in New York from Green Bay, where he was, according to him, "90 percent retired" before leaving for a darkness retreat in Oregon to figure out his future. When he returned, he revealed that New York was where he wanted to be.

The arrival of Rodgers brings division title and playoff aspirations for a team that hasn't sniffed the postseason in 12 years. For Hamlin, just being with his team is his biggest victory.

“Every time I see him put his helmet on and he goes out there between the lines,” fellow safety and Bills teammate Jordan Poyer said, “I know it gives me a little bit of juice and inspiration to go out there and play football.”

As if the script wasn't dramatic enough, Monday is also the 22nd anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on our nation, and the world will likely be watching the national telecast.
