Jason Kelce Defends Bills in 'New Heights' NFL Best Team Name Tournament

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce defended the honor of the Buffalo Bills' name during his podcasts' social media contest. What did he say about the Bills?

The Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills found themselves on a collision course to the AFC Divisional Game. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs once again broke the hearts of the Buffalo faithful, delivering yet another heartbreaking playoff defeat.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce scored two touchdowns in the Bills’ 27-24 loss. Now, with much lower stakes, he’s trying to hand Bills Mafia another loss.

On the “New Heights” podcasts – which he hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce – a bracket-style contest began to find the best NFL team name. In the third-to-last round (much like the AFC Divisional Round), the Bills and Chiefs are pitted against each other.

JASON KELCE TAYLOR SWIFT CHIEFS

With Travis Kelce presumably pulling for his team, Jason Kelce has got Buffalo’s back.

He took to social media to back the Bills.

“I mean according to the Chiefs you’re named after a mayor,” the older Kelce tweeted. “Buffalo Bill was an American Soldier, Bison Hunter, fur trapper, gold prospector, an American Icon, who was awarded a Medal of Honor for his duties in service. I know which one of those I think is cooler.”

Jason’s backing of Bills Mafia isn’t as newfound as it may seem. Kelce had tailgated with Buffalo fans before Travis and the Chiefs kicked off their playoff contest in Western New York. He had fun with fans and consumed … a lot of beer, which reared its head during the game.

Kelce, in a suite with his wife, other Kansas City family members, and – notably – Taylor Swift, jumped out into the crowd. His shirt was ripped off in the blistering cold and, despite his celebration coming after a big play for the Chiefs, he was embraced by the Bills fans.

It was the type of energy the rowdy Buffalo crowd could appreciate.

Kelce may continue to dive into the traditions of Western New York, should the Bills emerge victorious from the social media poll.

“If the Bills win this, I swear on Buffalo Bill’s legendary reputation I will jump through a flaming table #Bills Mafia,” Kelce posted.

The man of the people knows how to garner support for his new friends. Perhaps his support can give Buffalo a moral victory of sorts.
