Buffalo Bills' Von Miller Hoping to 'Recapture' Denver Broncos Days vs. Former Team

Von Miller and the Buffalo Bills face off against the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football.

For the first time in his 13-year career, Von Miller will go against the team that drafted him in tonight's Monday Night Football game between the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills.

Miller was drafted with the No. 2 overall pick by the Broncos in 2011, and built the foundation of a Hall of Fame career in 10 seasons with the team. 

He was relatively healthy during his time with the Broncos apart from a 2013 right ACL injury, forcing him to miss the final seven games of the year. In 2020, Miller suffered an ankle injury that cost him the entire season. Then, he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in the middle of the 2021 season before signing with the Bills in 2022.

Last season, Miller tore his left ACL, costing him the final six games of last year and the first four games of this season. Miller is still adjusting to life post-surgery.

"I would love to take these huge leaps and bounds each and every week, but reality is I'm just getting a little bit better each and every week," Miller said via ESPN. "I'm grateful for that and I can accept that. This is Year 13 for me, and I just know how it goes. Like, I know I still can play. I know I can still recapture some of the things that I did in the past and the type of player that I was, I know I can still be that and I feel like that's what's driving me."

The Bills defense has been ravaged by injuries all year long. Matt Milano, DaQuan Jones, Kaiir Elam and Tre'Davious White are all on injured reserve, forcing the veteran Miller to step up, even if he isn't at his peak.

If Miller can find his peak or somewhere close to it, the Bills will have a much easier time trying to make the playoffs as the season heads into the second half.

The Bills and Broncos are set to kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET inside Highmark Stadium.
