Broncos' 3 Most Shameful Duds in 70-20 Loss to Dolphins

When the head coach is complicit in a historically ugly loss, where does that leave the Denver Broncos?

The Denver Broncos were historically bad in Week 3's 70-20 loss to the Miami Dolphins. There are zero studs on a team full of losers.

The Broncos were routed so badly that the entire team should have to walk home from South Beach and not be allowed back into the clubhouse. It was such a pathetic showing that much of Broncos Country feels ashamed to wear merchandise from this heartless team.

The final score of 70-20 tells the gutless story better than any words can describe. The Broncos need to trade as many players as possible before the deadline, and not a single player should be safe because none seem to have a smidgen of pride.

The Broncos are listless, and some fans wonder if they're not worthless. After a game, it's Mile High Huddle tradition to list the biggest studs and duds, or winners and losers, or risers and fallers.

Coming out of this humiliation, the are no studs, winners, or risers. Let's examine the Broncos' biggest duds of Week 3.

Dud: Sean Payton | HC

Payton was supposed to bring mental toughness to this team. Instead, he's put together a group of heartless pretenders.

Many of Payton's roster decisions have been terrible, and he seems to have zero control over a roster of players who make one mental mistake after another. To add insult to injury, the “best play caller of the last 20 years” called a terrible game replete with dumb offensive decisions in critical situations.

This was a grotesque showing by a football team, and the buck stops at the top with the head coach.

Dud: Vance Joseph & the Defense

Denver's defensive performance against Miami is the most pathetic in team history. Zero toughness, terrible tackling, horrible scheme, and heartlessness.

There really are no words strong enough to describe how pitiful that side of the ball was in Miami. What else can you say about it?

The Broncos' defense flat-out gave up from the opening bell. Joseph needs to be fired immediately. The Broncos could replace him with a bagger from King Soopers, and it would be an improvement.

Dud: Mike McGlinchey | RT

The Broncos continue to search for a competent right tackle, as McGlinchey has been a turnstile with a penchant for penalties. Unfortunately, the Broncos' front office thought it a good idea to pay him an exorbitant amount of money in free agency and give him a lengthy contract.

The Broncos would have been better off paying a matador to man the right side of the offensive line. Unfortunately, the Broncos are seemingly stuck with another awful decision at right tackle, but this time it will cost them for at least the next three seasons.

Stud: None

This Broncos team is worse than imaginable, and it showed in Miami in a massively embarrassing way. Not a single player can be pointed to in a positive light.

What do you do with a team that is so gutless that the Dolphins opted to show mercy so that the Broncos wouldn’t have the dubious distinction of relinquishing the most single-game points in NFL history?
