Report: Broncos Sign Former Lions Starting WR

The Denver Broncos alleviated an offensive need before next month's NFL Draft, signing former Detroit Lions wide receiver Josh Reynolds to a two-year contract worth up to $14 million, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday.

A 2017 fourth-round pick, Reynolds spent his first four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, totaling 113 receptions for 1,450 yards and nine touchdowns across 64 appearances. Following a brief 2021 stint in Tennessee, he reunited with quarterback Jared Goff in the Motor City where he notched 1,393 receiving yards and 10 TDs over 38 games, including 29 starts.

The 6-foot-3, 194-pound Texas A&M product is coming off arguably his best campaign as a pro, tying a career-high with five scores while adding 608 yards on 40 catches for the NFC North-champion Lions. His 64 targets translated into a 118.8 passer rating for Goff, ranking 14th among all NFL WRs, per Pro Football Focus.

“He’s got great hands. He’s been playing at a high level," Goff said of Reynolds last September. "He started to catch himself in a little bit of a rhythm now, which is good, and get himself open. I think at the end of the day, I trust him and know he’s going to be competitive at the catch point, and he’s proved to be that.”

Possessing strong hands and the ability to run-block along the perimeter, Reynolds, 29, should slide in behind Courtland Sutton and Marvin Mims within the Broncos' receiver corps, likely overtaking Tim Patrick for WR3 duties.

Reynolds is only the fifth outside free agent signed by Denver this offseason, joining safety Brandon Jones, defensive tackle Malcolm Roach, inside linebacker Cody Barton, and offensive tackle Matt Peart.
