Cons

  • Never reached his potential in college.

  • Effort was questionable.
  • Doesn't handle contact through his routes or at the catch point well.
  • Easy to alter his routes.
  • Going to be limited in his role on offense.
  • Likely limited to a between the 20s tight end.

Overview

Jahleel Billingsley was once viewed as a top 100 tight end, but he continued to disappoint at Alabama before transferring to Texas and never broke out. He is a big athletic receiver, more than a tight end, that can work in a specific role on offense. However, there isn't anything there as a blocker, which will likely keep him as a big slot in the NFL who works best vertically. When the field constricts, Billingsley will have less of an impact due to his issues handling physicality.

Fit with Broncos

The Denver Broncos need tight end help, but they need it in the form of a versatile blocking tight end. Greg Dulcich and Albert Okwuegbunam offer more as a receiver than Billingsley, which would make Billingsley redundant. However, without the blocking ability, there isn't enough to interest the Broncos.
