Finding Broncos: Kadeem Telfort | OT | UAB

Measurements
- Height: 6-foot-7
- Weight: 319 pounds
- Arms: 35-7/8 inches
- Hands: 8-4/8 inches
Pros
- Checks all the measurement boxes with height, weight, and length.
- Moves quite well for his size.
- Naturally gifted athletically.
- Has a strong anchor and can be quick to drop and settle.
- Slides his feet smoothly and quickly in pass protection.
- Can get depth in his kick slide quickly.
- Power, while not great, is good enough to work in the NFL.
- Has enough to work in a mixture of schemes in the NFL.
Cons
- Doesn't seem to give consistent effort, which is evident when he eases up with his natural athleticism.
- His hand and punch techniques are a complete mess and need to be reworked.
- Plays with his shoulders ahead of his feet, making him top-heavy and easy to exploit.
- Doesn't play with a great bend and bends at his waist and not his knees, making his balance issues even worse.
- Has to correct his pad level or protect himself against leverage.
- Hand placement is consistently off and will lead to penalties in the NFL.
- Has all the pieces to the puzzle, but it needs to be put together.
Overview
Telfort is a naturally gifted tackle who ended up at UAB after some legal issues. He has a chance to be a good NFL tackle, but he will have to get out of his own way. There are apparent effort issues that show up too frequently on tape, which could work against his development in the NFL. Teams will have to discuss whether he will be worth the effort or if he will let the opportunity pass him by.
Fit with Broncos
Zach Strief is the Broncos' offensive line coach, which he got after two years as the assistant in New Orleans. His playing resume speaks for itself and should help focus young players along the offensive line. Streif may be the right kind of coach to get through to Telfort.
The biggest obstacle to overcome is getting consistent effort and commitment from Telfort to be developed. If those weren't as big of a concern, he is probably a top 150 pick, at the very least. However, there needs plenty of development, and the Broncos need to take some shots on developmental tackle options, something they have been missing over the past few years.
