Von Miller Makes Bold Claim That Russell Wilson is 'Going Crazy'

In this story:
In some parallel universe, Denver Broncos GM George Paton has decided to bring Von Miller home to the Mile High City instead of signing Randy Gregory to a five-year, $70 million deal in the spring of 2022.
Back in our true football dimension, reality bites hard, as Paton dramatically struck out with Gregory, who was traded to San Francisco this week instead of being released.
A modicum of comfort can be found in the fact that despite no longer playing in the Orange and Blue, Miller's deep affinity with his former team has never left him. As it stands, a large cross-section of the national media remains blind to the resurgent play of Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson.
On the flip side of the predominant Wilson narrative, Miller appears to be in the minority, as the former Super Bowl 50 MVP likes what he’s seeing from the Broncos veteran quarterback.
"Russell Wilson went crazy, and not only did he go crazy this game, but he's actually been going crazy all season long,” Miller said via his own podcast. “Quietly, he's actually been going crazy all season long. This is what I've said all along about Russell Wilson. I said it all along that this year was going to be way better than the year before."
When Wilson arrived via a blockbuster trade with the Seattle Seahawks last year, it was Miller who first offered up some excitement as the legendary pass rusher appeared to openly court a return to play in Denver. Ultimately, Miller landed a lucrative multi-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, but his belief in Wilson has never wavered.
The notion hasn't been widely held by most national media types, but that can be attributed to a morbid thirst to see Wilson fail. On his podcast, Miller was quick to point out compelling statistical evidence that Wilson even put up better numbers than his own superstar quarterback Josh Allen last week.
"I think his passer rating was higher than Josh Allen's passer rating this last week," Miller said, "and that just shows Russ is cooking. I'm excited for Russ, and they definitely have what it takes."
Despite the Bronocs' disjointed and, at times, inept start to the 2023 season, Wilson's stellar play has proven Sean Payton's expert coaching acumen and points to greater things to come in the not-too-distant future.
It provides a stark reminder of how catastrophic the Nathaniel Hackett hire actually was for the Broncos, particularly for Wilson's trajectory and NFL stock. As it happens, Sunday will see the return of Hackett to Denver to face the team that fired him two games before the 2022 season even concluded.
If the Broncos are going to exact some measure of revenge on their ex-head coach for sinking their hopes so spectacularly last season, fans better hope that Miller's belief in Wilson "cooking" again is well-founded.
