Stefanski Addresses Nick Chubb's Recovery Progress

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was once again asked about Nick Chubb's rehab during his press conference in Berea on Tuesday. Find out what he had to say about the running backs' progress.

Did Kevin Stefanski finally provide us with the long-awaited timeline of Nick Chubb's return to football?

No.

To be fair, Andrew Berry and Stefanski were both asked about the star running back just one month ago at the owner's meetings in Florida. It is hard to imagine that a whole lot has changed with Chubb's status as he continues to work his way through rehab.

Despite the lack of earth-shattering news, it is good to hear the head man say that Chubb is doing everything that he should be doing during his recovery.

"I won't go into specifics on his recovery but he's doing everything he's supposed to be doing," said Stefanski.

The short but sweet statement is what should be expected from April 16th when the season is still quite a ways away. Not to mention, Chubb did only have his second surgery back in November. Five months really is not that long for a major knee surgery.

Chubb has been in the building consistently while working with the Browns' training staff. He was seen walking into the training facility with his teammates on Monday as the players reported for the start of Organized Team Activities.

Stefanski did go on to add, "I can promise you he's working very hard. Early in the morning, he's here. He's attacking his rehab. That's the best way I can put it. When he's ready, he'll be ready."

Whether Chubb is back on the field in September or November, the organization, coaches, his teammates and the fans will be happy to see him "ready".

Since the last time Stefanski discussed Chubb's rehab, the running back and Browns' front office agreed to re-structure his contract for 2024. Chubb's re-worked deal reduced his cap hit to $6.275 million with the chance to still earn up to $12.2 million in incentives. In order to do that, Chubb would need to hit similar statistical benchmarks that he did prior to his injury.

As Chubb is recovering from his knee injury, so is new free agent signing Nyheim Hines. Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman may need to shoulder the workload in the backfield unless Cleveland adds another running back.

Former Florida State running back Trey Benson could be in play with the Browns second-round selection at the end of this month.
