Around the NFL: How Did Week 6 Results Impact the Cleveland Browns?

In this story:
FOX's broadcast in the 1 p.m. Eastern window last week gave America a chance to see the top-ranked defense in the NFL against one of only two remaining unbeaten teams. The Browns were a nearly double-digit underdog, but ultimately held off San Francisco 19-17 in the most impressive win of the weekend across the nation.
That victory reset the table for the Browns and their hopes of making the playoffs. There appears to be a renewed sense of energy around this Browns team, so let's see what the AFC picture is as Week 6 has come to a close.
On Thursday, we told you about three games that Browns fans needed to pay close attention to. Here's how the results of those games impacted Cleveland's standing in the AFC.
Jaguars 37, Colts 20
This game went exactly how we expected it to. The Jaguars dominated and completed a wire-to-wire 37-20 victory. Jacksonville is a legit team in the AFC and they are going to be in the conversation as this year progresses. The Jaguars are now 4-2 on the season.
The Colts, on the other hand, have a year that is unravelling before their eyes. Rumors are swirling that Anthony Richardson may get shut down for the rest of the season. Gardner Minshew and company were just not enough on Sunday afternoon and will be fighting uphill the rest of the season. Indianapolis is 3-3 after six games.
The Browns travel to Indianapolis next Sunday with the hopes of getting a win and owning the tiebreak in a potential playoff scenario.
Texans 20, Saints 13
The Texans (3-3) have a guy with CJ Stroud. Stroud has been nearly flawless in the Texans first six games. Sunday marks his "worst" game as a pro, completing only 13-of-27 passes for 199 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception as they got the win.
Worst is relative - the young man has been special so far this year and is only getting better. We will keep our eye on Houston throughout the year and keep the Browns Christmas Eve showdown on the radar.
Cowboys 20, Chargers 17
The Chargers roller coaster ride continues, and this week's valley is a great outcome for the Browns. The Cowboys (4-2) just barely edged out the Chargers on Monday Night Football, 20-17.
Justin Herbert is battling a broken hand and seemed to be a hair out of rhythm Monday night as he missed a number of big plays by a matter of inches. The Chargers now have three losses all by three points or less. They could just as easily be 4-1 as they could be 1-4. But with Monday's loss, they sit at 2-3.
Fortunately enough for the Browns, the quicker that the Chargers are not a factor in the playoff picture, the better. Monday was a step in the right direction.
Overall, this was a good weekend for Browns fans. Cleveland took care of their business on Sunday and got the help that they were looking for. More weekends like this and the Browns will find themselves in the playoffs.
