Buccaneers' QB Baker Mayfield Spoke with Rich Eisen on His Future

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield discussed his personal and professional future while speaking with Rich Eisen.

Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some very serious upcoming discussions to be had as the veteran quarterback enters free agency following his one-year deal in Tampa Bay. In a sit down with Rich Eisen on his show "The Rich Eisen Show", Baker Mayfield sat down to discuss his immediate future both personally and professionally prior to the onset of the 2024 season.

Prior to when those discussions are to be had between Baker and the Buccaneers, the former No. 1 overall pick plans to take a trip to the Bahamas with some of Tampa Bay's players before gearing up to welcome the birth of his first child, a daughter, with his wife Emily who is due in just over a month.

Baker then got into the juicy stuff that is at the top of 'The Krewe's' minds in which he discussed the next steps in the process of where he will be in his professional career.

Mayfield led off talking about the first step being completed with the Buccaneers hiring Liam Coen as their next offensive coordinator saying he's a "great guy" while adding in that the familiarity with Coen and the play calling being extremely in line with what they ran last year playing a major role in the potential for him to return.

Baker was asked if his first option would to be stay put to which he responded, "I would love to." He loves how the organization operates and the free reign they provide to allow him to just be himself.

Everything that Mayfield said during his time on "The Rich Eisen Show" is music to the Buccaneers' ears. They have shown that they want Baker to be Baker and want him back in the Red & Pewter.

Baker's own words point towards an extension getting worked out between the two sides. The only questions come down to how long and for how much.
