The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are working on filling out their roster for the upcoming 2023 NFL season and their offensive backfield will look a little different than it has the past few years.

The first move the Buccaneers made in the running back room was releasing veteran running back, Leonard Fournette. Fournette came to Tampa to prove himself and really flourished when it came time for the playoffs.

Now, it appears that the franchise is giving second-year running back, Rachaad White, a heavier workload moving forward and today signed a veteran running back for depth behind White.

The Bucs are adding former Broncos running back, Chase Edmonds, to their backfield on a one-year deal. The one-year deal comes on the veteran minimum salary that should be a $1.08 million base, $152,500 bonus - a great salary cap saving option pickup by the Buccaneers.

Edmonds will now join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers backfield along with Rachaad White and Ke'Shawn Vaughn; Giovani Bernard is a free agent.

Edmonds hasn't had a stellar NFL career so far, but has been a consistent backup option for the teams he has played on. The six-year NFL vet's best season came with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021 where Edmonds started 11 games and ran 116 times for 592 yards and 2 touchdowns while adding 43 catches for 311 yards.

The Buccaneers look to have an identity in their backfield after the signing, but could also look to add another back in free agency or grab a young, promising back in the upcoming NFL Draft.
