Rob Gronkowski welcomes Tom Brady to the "2x retired" club with funny message

One of Brady's longest-tenured teammates and friends reacted in a hilarious way to his second retirement.

A year after his initial retirement from football, Tom Brady kept his second announcement pretty brief. During a video posted to Instagram, Brady hit all the key points as he discussed stepping away from the sport for a second consecutive year. It appears that February 1 will be unofficially referred to as 'Brady Day' moving forward.

"Good morning, guys. I'll get to the point right away. I'm retiring. For good," Brady said in his statement. "I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning, I figured I'd just press record, and I'd let you guys know first. It won't be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year. So I really thank you guys so much. To every single one of you for supporting me: My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors I could go on forever. There's too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn't change a thing. I love you all."

Almost fittingly, Brady's friend, longtime teammate, and future Hall of Fame tight end, Rob Gronkowski, kept his reaction to the news just as short and sweet. The two can now both say that they're members of the "2x retired" club. Gronkowski and Brady each stepped away from the game, came back, and retired for a second time.

"Tommy, since I already wrote you a long retirement message last year, this time I shall say, welcome to the 2x retired club.

You're a legend and you always will be, my friend [Tom Brady}."

Brady and Gronkowski will go down as one of the greatest quarterback-wide receiver duos of all-time. They won multiple championships together across their time in New England and Tampa Bay.
