Star Wide Receiver Mike Evans Signs Multiyear Deal With Buccaneers

The best offensive player in Buccaneers franchise history isn't going anywhere.

The free agency period of the offseason is quickly approaching and for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they have quite the checklist when it comes to bringing back key pieces that helped them make the playoffs in 2023. They likely will want to bring back their own key free agents like Antoine Winfield Jr., Baker Mayfield, and Lavonte David, and as the week gets underway, the first shoe to drop in making everything become a reality for the Bucs as the organization and star wide receiver Mike Evans have agreed on a new 2 year/$52 million with $35 million guaranteed.

Getting a deal done with Evans is huge for Tampa Bay. The deal isn't long, but it landed right when it came to the vet wideout getting the amount of money that he was looking for. It took some time, but at the end of the day, the franchise was able to keep their guy in the fold at least for the next two seasons - making it more and more likely that we could see Evans begin and end his career as a Buccaneer.

Now, with Evans secured, the Buccaneers likely will turn their attention to working on a contract extension with free agent quarterback Baker Mayfield. Both sides have shown interest in reuniting with one another, so hopefully with the guarantee that Evans will be back, it will start to move things along for Baker to re-sign in Tampa Bay on a long-term contract.
